A Season for Sauvignon Blanc

On this first day of May, it feels as if summer is here!  The air is warm and dry, there is a hot breeze and the temperatures are peaking at 94 degrees.  The streets are busy with locals and tourists enjoying the first taste of the new season to come.  On the patio at the Clif Family Winery Tasting Room, we are welcoming summer with the release of our 2016 Rte Blanc.  Named after owner Gary Erickson’s belief in taking the road less traveled, or “white road,” in both business and life, this signature wine is a fresh breath of passion fruit, white peach, ripe melon and hints of coconut.  With its zippy mid palate and kick of fresh squeezed lime on the finish, it’s perfect for casual summer sipping.

In the coming weeks, we will also begin to show off a new wine – our 2016 Oak Knoll District Sauvignon Blanc.  A more serious version of this loved varietal, this reserve style wine is the result of more oak influence, longer barrel aging and a unique north Napa site.  Apricot, ripe pineapple, and gooseberry are offset by a stunning minerality and a light touch of oak.

As spring turns to summer and you begin to entertain in your favorite outdoor space, these 2016 Sauvignon Blancs are sure to please!
