2022 Croquet Cabernet Sauvignon
A sophisticated bouquet of ripe plum, graphite, and chocolate, then a palate with the rustic tannins Croquet always gives you. The entry moves straight into big, age-worthy structure, the middle is packed with texture, and it finishes long on tart cherry that lingers and lingers. The vines sit on a steep slope at 1,785 feet on the north side of Howell Mountain on Ink Grade Road — named for the croquet court on the property — in Aiken loam, a rich red clay that drains slowly and makes the vines work. Hand-harvested in the cool morning hours, hand-sorted before and after the destemmer, and aged 20 months in 85% new French oak, with the winemaker pulling the best barrels for this single-vineyard bottling. CCOF certified organic, Napa Green, B Corp.
